• Mise-en-scene homework practical response and write up:
• • Select a setting and props to generate a particular emotion. 
  • The shot should be a place where a character would spend time - provide some hints that reveal something about the character. Do not include any characters within the frame.
  • The emotion and character development should provide a narrative - who are they? How do they live? How do they feel?
  • Include a visual metaphor.
  • Consider: Lighting and shadow, camera angle, use of colour.
  Provide an analysis of your finished shot to explain your creative choices (approximately 300 words)

The shot I took is suppose to convey an emotion of emptiness and sadness. You can see inside the shot that this is a large room, usually used by 2 people. The bed also only has one bedding set, tucked neatly in the corner. There are two tables, one clearly occupied by a character, this character seemed to be a student, hinted by headphones, mouse, laptop and books on the table. other things encodes a laid back behavior like how the chair isn't tucked under the table fully or how there is still food items on the table. The empty table shows that it was once occupied by a person, but that person isn't here. The two plushies on the back, the big hippo hugging the small lion embodies a close-knit relationship of the two people. The blueish background creates a sense of cold and sadness. The wide view of the city hints at the person who is missing probably moved away to a better place. The narrative that I want to show in this picture is the bigger brother has left to go on his studying journey, leaving behind his younger sibling - who is still in school. This creates a sense of emptiness and sadness inside the little brother who is still living in this room.
