Hi, my name is Nguyen Hoang Khoi, currently studying AS/A Level Media Studies at Vinschool Central Park, Ho Chi Minh City.
I usually play video games in my free time but I also enjoy experiencing new things to build a better understanding of the world and expand my knowledge.
I chose media studies to satisfy my constant crave for analyzing media products. I really enjoy watching meaning analysis of movies I've watched or games I've played, usually in the form of a video essay. These types of videos allow me to understand media on a deeper level and also make me more interested in the media text. This is why I think media studies is the perfect next step for me.
My favorite film has to be "Oppenheimer", directed by Cristopher Nolan. I really like how the story is complicated to digest on the first watch but once you watch the film the second time you realize how good the movie actually is. The music is so perfect for every scene, the tempo change, the loud synths mixing with the orchestral element is just so impactful to me that I can recall getting goosebumps sitting in the cinema, probably one of the best OST in the history of film-making in my opinion.
My favorite music artist changes many times across the years. I was originally interested in listening to popular tunes until I fell in love with hip-hop in 2021. Around 2022, I started producing music, which also influenced the way I percept and enjoy music. As of right now, my favorite music artist is JPEGMAFIA, he is an amazing rapper and producer. Not only he produces and raps his own songs, he's known to be able to sample any sounds and turn it into a hit, which is so admiring.
This is my favorite song on his latest album: "I'll be right there"
I've played many games across different genres, but no game can change my mind on Minecraft. Even though the game has derived away from its original form, the game still hold a place in my heart. I played the game with friends back in 2019 up until late 2023 and Minecraft has created some of the most beautiful moments of my childhood. It is also the game that opened up many relationships and hobbies for me while also building different mathematical skills.
